HOTEL CAVTAT | CAVTAT, CROATIA

Unexpected and exceptional - two words I would describe this hotel and the town of Cavtat (more on this see other blog posts). But Hotel Cavtat is beautifully set 30 minutes from Dubrovnik overlooking Tiha Bay. The views from the sea view rooms are phenomenal and only 10 minutes away from the airport we hired a car to get around but make sure you also take the water taxi from the Dubrovnik port - this is a must do.

The hotel is finished excellently with minimalist but tasteful furniture and excellent access to the crystal blue Adriatic sea. It is truly mesmerizing. When booking this hotel I admit I was put off by the three-star rating but once you arrive that goes out the window. It should be awarded more; it boasts of modernist attributes, built in 1960 – most of the rooms have balconies and all have plenty of natural light, and have been fitted out in contemporary style. The reception area is totally white, with two big fish tanks and a view down to the sea - make sure you grab a seat by the window for the views alone.. The hotel is particularly popular with older British couples however the bars and terraces really do make up for this intimate setting of peaceful vibes.

ROOMS

We stayed and booked the superior room - which are a little more spacious, but worth the money decorated in cream and beige, and each has a quirky artwork above the bed by Dubrovnik-based artist Dubravka Lošić – an abstract painting in gold with white and yellow on hessian. Check-out is at 12 noon, (great as you wont be rushed in your last day) but check in is 3pm I believe so if you’re getting an early flight be mindful of this and wear something light as the sweltering heat greets you!

FOOD & DRINK

Breakfast is included and is layed out in the Karaka restaurant. The dining room is modern, decorated in white, yellow and navy blue, with semi-sphere hanging lamps over each table, creating an intimate atmosphere. Pick a seat by the window!

Breakfast includes fruit juices, yoghurts, self-service toast, bacon, sausage and very good scrambled egg, plus an open-kitchen counter where they serve omelettes to order with the filling of your choice. not forgetting

SERVICE

All in all, I would rate the service and overall experience a 9/10 just because there's always room for improvement - i joke. I would like to come back here in the height of summer (we stayed in May). I cannot fault this hotel or its service - all staff are on hand to help book excursions, boat trips and general information. It’s value for money is fantastic and like I’ve mentioned it’s a great place to relax for 3 days. #travellingwhileblack We didn’t experience that much racism (of course a few stares) here compared to other Croatian towns so it’s truly safe as we wondered at night and have a few bars on the coast of the bay.

See you soon Cavtat.
